Alvin Toffler (1980), a renowned futurist, had this to say about a redefined curriculum in an age of technology:

"Nothing should be included in the required curriculum unless it can be strongly justified in terms of the future.  If this means scrapping a substantial part of our formal curriculum, so be it (p. 3).........(as cited in Wiles and Bondi, p. 170)

Do you agree or disagree with this statement?   Explain.   How do you think John Dewey would react to this statement?

I would disagree with Alvin Toffler because the curriculum is always changing and being updated to better the future of education. If we thought this way, then we would still be stuck in the 17th century. I believe John Dewey would also disagree with Alvin because Dewey believed that education needs to change in order for students to not only grow individually but also for society to grow. Even today the curriculum is constantly being reviewed to make sure that the standards reflect changes that are happening in the world. This includes learning about historical events, such as the Holocaust and civil rights movements. Additionally, technology has influenced the way concepts are taught in classrooms, which in itself has changed drastically. Without the curriculum being reviewed and changed there would be more questions to answer from the community as to how students are actually being educated in this changing world.
