As more and more schools incorporate the new 21st century standards into their curriculum, my question is this:
How do you think these new 21st century standards will affect the curriculum that you apply in your classroom? Why do you take this position? Do you feel that future generations will profit from these new standards? Why? And finally.............have you noticed any changes in your district’s curriculum over the last few years? What are those changes and do they speak to the 21st century standards?

ReplyDeleteI believe it is necessary for the 21st century standards to be implemented in curriculums today because without them where would our growing society be? The field of education is always changing and that means the curriculum should change too, otherwise we would still be in the cave wondering why no one has turned on the lights or what else is out beyond the cave. I would certainly continue to use updated standards, like the 21st century standards, in my classroom because I want to ensure I am preparing my students for a changing world, as well as providing them with the most updated information. Even though my school’s curriculum hasn’t been updated since 2014, we are still required to use the most updated standards in our lessons. In the end, it’s all about making sure our students are well educated and prepared to enter the real world with skills and attributes to become productive citizens.
